Day 1: Windhoek to Okonjima Nature Reserve

Pick up at your place of accommodation will be from 8.00am. The first day will take us to Okonjima. It is home to the AfriCat Foundation in Namibia, a conservation operation that focuses on the African big cats, particularly the cheetah. During the afternoon you will be taken on a tour that will provide more insights into this wonderful conservation program. The learning will be enhanced by the opportunity of seeing some of the animals.

Day 2: Okonjima to Etosha National Park, After an early start armed with lunch packs,you will head off towards the Etosha National Park. You will travel via Lake Otjikoto, which is Namibia's largest permanent natural lake. You will rest here and learn about the history of this unusual landmark. Having arrived at Etosha, you will check into our lodge just outside the gate. You embark on our first game drive during the cool of the afternoon. The game viewing is usually excellent with close sightings of springboks, zebras, impalas, giraffes, gemsboks and plenty of birds. If you are lucky you may also have close encounters with elephants and lions. Just before sunset you will be driven back to the lodge.

Day 3: Etosha south National Park.

Today will be spent watching wildlife. A visit to a number of waterholes is high on the cards and make a stop at the Etosha Pan, the “place of dry water”. The Pan is an extensive flat depression of about 5,000 km2. This great, white expanse is a place of shimmering mirages and seeing large herds of game in this setting makes Etosha a unique experience. You may stop at Halali middle camp for lunch and relax before you continue to the southern side of the park and your place of stay.

Day 4: Etosha to Palmwag

You kick start your day with a game drive before leaving the park and driving into the desert mountains of the Kaokoveld, one of the last true wildernesses of Southern Africa and home of the Himba people. During the afternoon you will pay a visit to Otjikandera Himba village where you will meet the local inhabitants. A special guide is going to be available for the time you will be there. The guide will translate for you and introduce you to this “tribe”. You will learn about marriage customs, traditional food and you will visit the “holy fire”. Later we proceed to Grootberg where you spend the night.

Day 5: Palmwag to Twyfelfontein, Damaraland

Today you will continue further south into Damaraland. On your way, you will travel through different landscapes and see the local people. The area is known for Desert Elephants and, if you are lucky, you might spot some. You will visit the Twyfelfontein UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring one of the largest and most important concentrations of rock art in Africa. You will also see the Organ Pipes before continuing to your lodge. The afternoon can be spent relaxing at the lodge.

Day 6: Twyfelfontein - Swakopmund, Skeleton Coast

Depart early to enjoy the cool of the morning. Your first stop is the small town of Uis, an old mining town and one of the best places to buy semi-precious stones for which Namibia is famous for. Here rough amethyst, tourmaline and other stones can be found at bargain prices. Having arrived at the coast you drive to Cape Cross and the seal colony for close-up views of thousands of fur seals. Tonight you will dine at one of Swakopmund's excellent restaurants. The seafood here is superb.

Day 7: Swakopmund -Windhoek

Your guide today will discuss all possible optional activities with you and offer to make pre-bookings (N.B. all extra activities in Swakopmund are at the client's own expense). Later you will be driven back to Windhoek where you will be dropped off at your place of accommodation in the afternoon where your driver guide will bid you farewell, then  transferred to the airport by a transfer driver the following day for your homebound flight.
